Film Portfolio

Welcome to my world— this is the start of my film journey. I want to showcase my creativity, passion, and determination. Whilst studying A levels in Drama & Theatre studies, Psychology and Law, I have independently put together a film portfolio. I’ve embraced the challenge of learning, experimenting, and creating on my own, and also as part of a team, whilst balancing the demands of my other studies.

This portfolio represents my exploration so far of storytelling through film, driven entirely by my own curiosity and desire to work in the film industry.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my journey— I hope that you will see my dedication and I’m excited to share it with you.

Paranormal Investigations – 2.58 minute film

This film follows three teenage girls who decide to discover if the urban legends from their childhoods are real. They complete multiple investigations and soon find a sinister truth in the stories they were told years ago. We filmed on our phones to create a found footage effect to make it seem eerily real to the viewer.

Brief: I was tasked with creating a short film for C30 school group.

Research & Development: My main inspiration for this film was the ‘Blair Witch Project’. I was particularly interested in the documentary-style filming as it brings a realness to the screen. I watched multiple documentaries to understand techniques in order to make them realistic. After I had the brief idea I began writing the script based off of urban legends from my childhood.

Proxemics

Proxemics means the space between humans. This short film explores the sadness, loneliness and guilt that come along with losing a loved one and one girl’s journey through these emotions. Proxemics is open to interpretation from the viewer as we don’t know who has left her. I believe this will help the viewer resonate with the character and feel emotions of their own.

Brief: Planned, wrote, filmed and edited a short film over the course of a couple months.

Research & Development: Throughout my life I have witnessed the effects of a father, a boyfriend, a best friend, leaving. I wanted to show the pain, loneliness and finally acceptance through film. I wrote a script and storyboarded my idea before filming over multiple days. When editing I used the song ‘Never Felt So Alone’ by Labrinth as the soundtrack, it was a major inspiration for the vibe of the short film.

The Lunch Club – 3.44 minute film

The Lunch Club is a contemporary re-make of a scene from the 1985 film The Breakfast Club.

Brief: We were tasked with doing a contemporary remake of an old/older film.

Research & Development: We first watched The Breakfast Club to understand the characters and get an idea of the filming. We used this to edit the original script, turning it into a modern-day remake using slang and behaviour we had experienced at school.

Genre: Comedy/Drama
